About The Artist - Tamsin Lord BA (Hons)
I grew up in rural Warwickshire in the UK, and have always adored cats and art (having been brought up in a home surrounded by both!) My first cat was Marigold, a mischievous seal point Siamese who'd chase anything that moved! I was given her as for my 12th birthday, but was persuaded by my mum to leave her at home when I left for University to study Sculptural Ceramics in Wolverhampton. This proved a wise move, Marigold would have turned her nose up at my student digs, cramped with my drawings, paintings and pottery! She lived to the ripe old age of 23 and lived a pampered lifestyle in her mature years, being fed diced chicken (due to a lack of teeth) laced with an arthritic herbal cat remedy - which worked miracles! She was just the beginning, I now have an adorable little tortoiseshell moggy called Thistle, who squawks commands in a most un-cat like manner and who, at 17, sleeps for many more hours in the day than she's awake!
Aftern graduating, I turned my attention from clay to painting, and as artists prefer painting subjects they love, it was natural for me to paint cats. I love creating quirky feline characters, picking up those little expressions we all know and adore. I also love working on detailed photo realistic paintings, they are very satisfying once you get the "look" just right.
Each painting is a unique original, and each cat given a name fitting their character, with a narrative behind the picture.
